A few months back, I had found a company that made a ring that fits on the throttle that converts it into a 1/4 travel throttle or quick action throttle.

Anyone know where to get one?

The only thing I know of is to actually purchase a 1/4 turn throttle. If you find what you are looking for, please post it.

1/5 turn throttle

I have the links you are looking for. Chris Taylor was going to do this before he had his problems with his bike. This is designed for the GSXR throttle, however, I think this might be universal.

a review of the product on the gsxr site,

That's the one! Thanks Cichlid. Looks pretty simple. Wonder if I could make one out of some kind of plastic washer.

Err...probably completely stupid...

...but could you adjust a TuneEdit tune so that maximum fuel flow was arrived at when the throttle was only, say, 50% (with suitable interpolation from TPS=0) to achieve a similar, though less marked, effect?. Assumes TuneBoy etc., of course.

Just a thought

You could do that, but you'd be getting full fuel and only half the air.
The throttle cable still needs to open the butterflies, it's not fly by wire.
BTW, fitting a quarter turn throttle isn't going to help throttle control at small openings any, is it?
Be ok for the track though.

I agree with Paul, Tune Edit would not accomplish what you need.

The problem I have with the throttle is that the Throttle is "cammed" to supply less throttle movement at low openings and higher (faster) rate of movement at higher throttle openings. The real problem is that the overall diameter of this CAM is to small, meaning you have to twist the grip a L-O-N-G way to get to full throttle, it's more like a 3/5th's throttle where as I beleive that the typical throttle on a sports bike is more like 2/5ths. So, if I fitted a 1/5th throttle, it would subtract 1/5th and put me at what a typical sport bike is and what I prefer, and still give me the cammed effect, only with smaller throttle movements.

Does that make any sense?

...makes complete sense, Bob and take on board Paul's point as well: I had the "fly by wire" idea in mind...this is, err... the first bike I have had with fuel injection.

I know that you get a quicker action on a 67r by switching the trottle tube for one from a 1050 speed triple...works nice and matches the bike.

I got one of the alloy rings off e-bay an fitte to my 955i, that works too

"if you want to make your own here's a post from previous threads: http://translate.google.com/translate?u=... (08 Jun 2008 16:03)"

You can do the same with a 3/4" PVC coupling and a Dremel. Costs a whopping 30 cents and two hours.

I am using a Euroracing adjustable throttle kit. Was not cheap but works great. I have the biggest wheel in there right now and am at full throttle with very, very little wrist movement...

Triumph part number:

T2040331
cost $11.00

comes with a rubber grip attached..must be a bargain

1050 Speed Triple is a quicker action than that fitted to yours.. which I think is 1/4 turn this makes it maybe 1/5 turn

On the 675 it's so quick that even hard bumps in the road can get the revs bouncing, takes concentarion and a smooth wrist on poor surfaces.

On the 955I Daytonas, both 99 and 2003 it's nice, less wrist strain, but controlable on poor roads

Oh forgot to give you the different diameters of them

99 & 2003 955i = 31mm

1050 S3 = 36mm

Aliminum Spacer =41

For the record:

I've had one of Unkle Tonys QAT mods for maybe 3 years now, and it works brill.4949
You do have to adapt the plastic sheathing (on the Daytona anyway) though. It can take a couple of attempts to get it right (so the cables don't bind) but its not difficult.

I recommend it, as "grabbing that extra handful" was becoming a pain244949

Cheers Xman, received and hoping to get time to fit tomoz.

Thank fcuk thats done..:argh:

the bloody adjuster nut for the return cable at the throttle body end is impossible to get to, took me ages to get finger tight.

Anyway it was worth it...just come back from a run and the throttle is soooooo much better, before the mod you had to really twist your wrist but now you just think POWER and its there

Cheers X-man, just need to remember ive done the mod the next time im out in the wet
