If you do facebook.......there is a very informative post about the history of the 1200 Daytona on the 'for sale' post for this very bike................

Hang on a sec............

From a certain Denis Fitch...

The Daytona 1200SE is just a black 1996 Daytona - Its a parts bin special (like the 750 Speed Triple & Sprint Sport & Executive) to use up old obsolete stock - The only differences between a "normal" Daytona & an SE is gold coloured decals, gold painted wheels & 6 pot front brake calipers - Other than that, theyre a stock, black, 1993 - 1996 1200 Daytona - They were only available in 1999 as Triumph were desperate to rid their stock rooms of old T3 parts & found releasing "Special Editions" a good way to get shot of old stock - They billed it being built as "by popular demand", but that was sales guff - Each one has a numbered plaque - People seem to pay nearly double a "normal" 1200D price for them, although this is usually the "asking" price, so who knows if they ever sell for that - Seems a bit of a premium to me for a pair of 6 pot brake calipers & a bit of gold paint on the wheels! They're nice bikes though (as all 1200Ds are), but not really any nicer than a standard 1200D (i have 3  ) In stock form, a good 1200 Daytona will produce around 133bhp, maybe 120bhp at the wheel - way down on Triumph's 147bhp claim & have a top speed of around 155mph in standard form - The T595 was phased in for the 1997 model year & were intended to replace the old T3 Daytonas, which ended production in 1996 - hence the 1200D SE being built for the 1999 year to get rid of those old parts - Here endeth the lesson

Thank you Andy , I joined the group and acutely that is his reply to my question
I am in no shape to buy and ride a bike but if he still has that bike in 4 or 5 months I wil go see it and make an offer . I like the heavier slower 1200 over the sexy 97-06 style, the weight makes it he better 1200 a better highway tourer and I feel more comfortable sitting on the 1200

I wouldn't want to do 130 on any kind of daytona 1200, never mind any claimed faster speeds.:lol::lol:
