Kevin McLoud presenting.....let me guess...another f!$%ing square house with square windows that looks totally out of place overlooking a beautiful valley in an area of outstanding, or used to be, natural beauty.

Pompous Cnut!

I like Kevin McLoud

He used to bring his LHD French registered Series 1 Freelander Diesel in for servicing

Poor bastard ... you'd have thought with his money he'd be driving something better :tongueout:

He's alright, least he's championing some interesting structures, they're not all square boxes. That huge cobb house was stunning.

I generally like his programmes as they often involve very difficult to build, locations and budgets.

Yep, thumbs up from me too.
I love to see the home builders thinking that construction is such a f!$%ing walk in the park that they can project manage it themselves and it'll all be done in six months for £200k. Two years and half a million quid later they move in!

If you do it properly, 1/3 for the land, 1/3 for the build and a 1/3 profit.

That looks pretty nice to me. Shame I’ll never be able to afford something like it though :frown:

You're right Exup, it looks like they're living in an empty hotel, not my taste at all. I really don't go for all this open plan bollocks either, just give me some decent sized rooms with doors so I can close myself off. The Victorians had it spot on, we've gone backwards since then.

I do like these programmes, him and George Clarke present some quite unique ideas.

My problem with some of these builds is why the f!$% do two people need 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and a kitchen the size of Belgium.

what a waste,

I've always daydreamed of building a house just big enough for me, 'er and a fuxking huge garage for the bikes.... LOL.

don't think it will ever happen. not with land prices round here.

Yes but the good old days of shoving Grannie and the kids up in the Attic have long past. :smirk:

Totally with you on his appalling taste in building in inappropriate settings. The councils that allow some of his monstrosities should be ashamed.

well I have just written to be included in the next series of Grand designs.

I have had to submit a copy of my plans for them to assess and see if it is of interest.

what do you think? is it a go-er.

In my experience areas that have wooden decking over the top are breeding grounds for rats that can roam freely under the decking and then burrow under the footings of your house and infest a house overnight.

You have been warned!

I agreed to buying a very large house on the condition I could have my bikes in living room 2. After all, the house had two living rooms and two kitchens and endless other rooms. Unfortunately she didn't come good on her promise and the bikes remain in the shed.

Aye, 'cos council estates really enhance our environment don't they?
