Thanks

That doesn't look right to me.; are you sure they sent the right part?

Teethe are different, centre is different Chamfer at least, number of holes different.

I would check very carefully the mesh of the teeth at the very least.

I have the full internals for a 1050 somewhere, if I have the right part you can have for postage and a unicorns horn.

I thought you just had to take a light skim and was thinking you could try a honing tool but that won't take the amount out that you need to plus even the smallest might not fit .
Have to say I'm with X-man in that I would be cautious about fitting a part that is nowhere near the same as the original and needs to be modified , it could potentially take a casing out if it doesn't align exactly .

Why cylindrical grinding, why not just machine out the centre with on a lathe with a boring bar?

Not the number of teeth its the form of the teeth that look very different. Is the pitch the same? Will they mesh properly with the other gears? Measure the root and tip and the angle of a tooth.

Wot X-Man said, could be as simple as someone has put the wrong part in the a bag with the correct label on it - Better to be safe than sorry eh ?

So...............the new gear is correct, same as old gear as in no of teeth, shape of teeth, inside diameter for brg but only if you have the updated sprag, hence why its bigger on the O/D....the original gear is NLA.............the parts catalogue doesnt say its updated.............so you buy the gear (as this is the only one listed) but doesnt fit your original sprag.......thats some help isnt it.

Thanks for the heads up X Man.

So, back to the original question then?????????????????

So back to the original answer; why can't you turn it down on a lathe with a carbide tool? What is the tolerance required? Is it hardened? Cos if it is and you are taking more than a few though off you will be through the hardening....
