My garden refuse collection is £35 but optional. So I just hide it inside my other rubbish.

Just had mine in today, rise of 5.7% to over 3K per year and I have to pay £55 for my green bin.

Band E...... but I live alone (they don’t count the ratcatchers, pigs or sheep) so I get 25% discount (I have to wash my own socks, but I do get to keep the Bonneville in the living room)

Any garden waste gets thrown to the pigs

It’s still a rip off though

Ours are as bad. We are well over 2k a year with our own septic tank. Our green bin will now only be collected once every three weeks. They need to sack half these wasters and reduce the tax:angry::angry::angry::angry:

The highest 20 salaries in each council should be listed on each council website so we can clearly see where our hard earned money is going.

Our wonderful council is going to spend 5 million in improvements on a Thames side park.
They could easily get a couple of private companies to build the improvements and let them build a couple of riverside bars/restaurants that they could have rent free for 10/15 years and they would then ownership would revert back to council ownership.
They would still get the business rates which would be something for nothing.

Mine spent it on the last one. Special lanes had to be painted on all the roads so that Olympic traffic had priority. Then had to pay again to remove it. This damaged the bypass which had just been resurfaced and it had to be done again.
f!$%ing waste of time.

just got my CTax notice - the Adult Social Charge - ASC - was £62 last year, now its up to £102 - FFS - and they describe this as a 3% increase.

f!$% me gently ......

Its untenable that as a single Occupant my Tax has gone from £52 in 2001 to £143 in 2018 (Band D Hovel ...)

That £52 was for one month I presume and not a whole year. My South Wales (three bed terrace, also band D) house, before I moved was near £400 a year in 1998.

Up 5.3% here overall. General precept for Coventry Council is up just 1.9% they say - Oh and then there is 3% for adult social care.
The thing that boils my piss though is the10.3% increase in the take for the West Midlands Police and crime commissioner at a time when the Police numbers here in Coventry are going down.

Yep, sums it up nicely ...... I still cant believe this 'Adult Social Care' has gone thru the Roof the last 2 years - and as for the Police & Crime Commissioner - WTF is that 5.9% increase all about - they've just shut Camberley Cop Shop and even the 'Counter' they had in the Council Offices - nearest Cop Shop now is f!$%ing Guildford .... sigh

ADULT SOCIAL CARE

I don't suppose they give nice old boys like me beer money to go down the pub with?

I would count that as excellent adult care:grin:

My local police in Brum are shutting my local station and the main divisional station it is part of. There has been no public access to police stations in Birmingham and environs for years now.

About the same as mine.

40 houses in the street so that's £2k a week to empty the bins once a fortnight.
Still, we have to pay for the £141k CE's wages plus pension and "benefits" don't we?

Over 2300 council employees in England and Wales earn more than £100k P/A.

Really? 30 No, you are right, here they built themselves huge new offices whilst selling off the old offices to Sainsburys despite covenants forbidding the land to be used for retail and thus ruining the area with vast amounts of unwanted traffic. Then adding traffic lights to control it and making it a whole lot worse.....so you are right they do more than empty the bins.08

Ours is a mere £2249.07

But our green bins are going to be emptied once every three weeks. That's £129 per green bin being emptied :tongueout:
I really cannot see anything else that the council provide that I want or need.

I believe the time has come to pay for the service you use and if they can't find the funds cause no one is willing to pay, the service should fold. Otherwise us mugs will continue to subsidise council wages and pensions:thumbdown:

I was not that far out £2228.95.So each month is more than 10% of my salary. I will be when I retire better off taking into account travel costs. So tempted in two years when I am 63. I thought I would only have two years until pension time. Now that is three years.

Yes.....

£2128 here in sunny Cheshire, no green bin charge (although I never use the green bin) and the police want almost 1/4 of it for doing bugger all. That’s a 5% rise overall.....
