My friend has a Jota and it's always breaking down, usually lecy gremlins. However, when it goes it is awesome and yes the sound is like nothing else

Didn't the Jota use the electrics off a Suzuki? Or am I on a different planet; I'm sure an Italian machine back when I were a lad used Japanese/Suzuki electrics...

I can't help thinking that Laverda electrics were mainly Bosch allied to Japanese switchgear and clocks.
'Tis a long time since I had my little Laverda Montjuic ... the electrics were fine!

My ex battle of the twins Mk 1 had straight through matt black things that looked like reverse cone mufflers (that weren't:lol:). Looked great and sounded painful.
It either needed a tow start or the sump gently warmed up with a primus. And that was with the starter checked over and tuned to perfection. No choke, just ticklers. It used to wheelie but the torque reaction made it tricky to maintain a distance. I once took it from just north of Dundee to visit my brother near Bridgewater in Somerset. Long time ago, relatively empty motorways and flat out. just under the no of fingers on one hand.

I seem to remember always hitting my (left ?) knee on the cylinder head that was rearmost, and having to be smooth on the (heavy) throttle when pushing it around roundabouts. I would be happy to have one as my sole motorcycle today.

To this day, the Mk1 Le Mans is one of greatest and best sounding motorcycles of all time. Always know when the big, early Guzzi is approaching.
