Yes, it's back. A thread I can join in with as well.

Dates: Saturday 7th June to Saturday 14th June.

Area: The Vosges Mountains and Black Forest.

Rides Out: Le Linge, Route Des Cretes, Hartmannswillerkopf, Pfetterhouse. Todtnau toboggan run and D500.

Plus silly days which may involve Kayaks and MTB hire.

2 days to get there and 2 to get back with an overnight stop in a cheap Motel or similar.

After much deliberation based on our previous trips it seems best to go with an Hotel in a town/village with bars and other sites within staggering distance and this has been the hardest thing to find thus far for 8-9 rooms. THe Vosges area is favourite at present due to the fact most of the places in Germany appear to be apartments of sorts and Google Street view is not available in the Black Forest yet.

I shall be posting some hotels shortly but at present the favourites are from booking.com

Gasthaus Hotel Rebstock Hauptstraße 45, 79364 Malterdingen.
Hotel Arc-En-Ciel, 38, Route De Sélestat, 68000 Colmar.
Plus a few "in the middle of nowhere" types that I shall look at again if the above are deemed unsuitable. More shall be added as and when I get replies from the hotels.

Anyway, I look forward to it and get your places booked smartish as they will be limited to 9 rooms.
I daresay the usual nutters will reply.:tongueout:

That road will do as well :blush:

I have no problem with an extra night, I was just thinking of those who have a long way to travel.................................
On second thoughts, he's only a foreigner, so I'll see what I can get.
We could do a 2 stop run on the way back with one night nearer the port/tunnel again so we don't have to rush. Those 70-100 mile morning runs are just perfect.

Fret, we did a trip to Black Forest a couple of years ago, stopping at Hotel Baeren, Lossburg. Excellent 1/2 board for 3 nights including a motorbike riding guide who led us round the local biking roads. He went like Joe Buggery if you asked , a great time was had by all

check him out, Thomas if I remember right

I'm in please. Sir TT says that he's in too but I don't see any sign of that on here yet.

It is good to see that you enjoyed Bouillion again Fret. You were right about it being hot for riding. I just got back from the bike meet in the Charente that I told you about previously and it was 36+ on the way back so time to wear industrial strength gussets  An old friend of yours, Mr Angel, was there and sends his regards.

I'm still looking for a decent venue, with a river, bike hire and some bars around the hotel. Plenty of lone hotels around, so I may put a choice up here in a month or so and see what the general consensus is.

We're getting there. The hotel list is getting smaller, but it's either in Colmar or a small town/village with only a couple of bars.

I'm choosing the French side of the Rhine as it's easier to see what the towns are like on Google Maps, unless I find a stonker of a hotel on the German side.

Anyway, here's a couple of routes I have planned, I'm only guessing the start towns as these are in the areas I am looking at, but you get the idea.
As usual there is a WW1 element involved, this time "Le Linge" in the Vosges region and the town of Pfetterhouse is where the line of trenches ended.

All appreciated, Dave, I haven't ruled them out. But most of the hotels I have looked at are showing no rooms as I guess it's too early to book yet, or the rooms available are mainly apartments or suites on the German side of the border. Most infuriating..

I am trying to book 8 rooms at a max of €70 including brekkers, otherwise the costs increase dramatically.
Mind you, it may be only 7 if Ethel doesn't get something decent to ride distances on.

Mind you, that first link looks tempting.

We have rooms!!!

http://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/grand-mu...

Not the best hotel, but good parking and a swiming pool to drink plenty of takeaway beer on.

Also booked this one as an alternative.

http://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/au-val-s...

Plenty of restaurants and bars nearby by the look of things.

Now to book the overnight stays on the way there and back.

Town looks good, so I'll stick with it unless I can find anything else as these also have plenty of spare rooms at present.
Hopefully it's the 8 usual suspects, although the missus is coming along to keep you all in check again.

I'll still be on the black Daytona.

After the last few months I'm considering this trip as something of a swansong and getting rid of the bikes. I can't remember the last time I rode one before yesterday (for anything other than getting an MOT).

I was talking to a FretTour virgin at Goodfest who said he was interested...

Come along Mr TopBox, you know you'll miss us if you don't come.

And it isn't exactly unusual for Vince not to have signed up this early.

This is Vince we are talking about. I will get a call 2 days before we are due to go.

Obviously my brakes, cruise control, lights, cylinder head, centre stand and drive shaft will all have failed by then, so I will be on a new bike.

I can only get extra rooms here. We now have ten rooms booked
http://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/au-val-s...

I can get 10 here, but it's a bit remote. http://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/restaura...
