A back EMF protection diode is wired across the coil and when the bike is switched off it will be connected to a circuit that is not energised so no chance to cause a drain that I can see.

Put the wrong type of relay in and pin 30, which on a headlight relay for instance, connects straight to the battery (via a fuse of course) is swapped with one of the relay coil leads.
That puts one side of the relay coil on a permanent live and you are well on the road to a flat battery.
