Then you have a high resistance somewhere drawing a huge current. This WILL damage the alternator eventually. Check the connections on BOTH sides of the connector blocks and internally for corrosion. Go through every one. Looks like you may have a bad loom maybe. Is just a standard bulb in the headlight itself?
