If you want a more wooden feel at the lever, you should upgrade your master cylinder diameter - I have done this, and it is less spongy feeling but you need to pull harder.... I don't remember the exact specs... I think standard is 17 and I put a 19 on (don't quote me on that) but there are loads of spongy front brake threads on here.

I think the other mod that people have tried with success was to file some material off the lever to give the piston more space to return, this apparently was supposed to be a problem. I haven't tried this!
