Leeds centre's been improved quite a bit over the last 20 years. Briggate was pedestrianized years ago, that's where Harvey Nicholls is, and you've got Victoria Quarter arcades leading off that with their lovely original Victorian architecture, and shops for the poshos (I was browsing there recently, picked up one pair of shoes I liked and glanced at the price tag - 350 f!$%ing quid, lol). Recently the new Trinity Centre has opened, and that's got all kind of shops in (including a branch of that rather bizarre Hollister clothing shop - check it out if you like buying clothes in the dark, lol, and a gallery selling rather expensive paintings), and loads of food places and cinema on the top floor. The new Leeds Arena opened recently just on the edge of the city centre too, then you've got the Royal Armouries etc. Unlike Bradford it's somewhere worth visiting, rather than somewhere to be avoided like the plague.
