Hi, I have a 97 T595 that I have had since 98 with 9,000 miles but it won't start. Went out on it and after 1 mile the bike began to run rough the MIL light came on and then it stopped and won't start. Used a Fault code reader to check fault codes and it displayed fuel relay problem. Replaced relay, no change. There is power to the fuel pump (primes) and I have taken the pump out and all the hoses are on securely, there is power to the coils and a good spark. Fitted a new battery and it turns over very well but won't even fire. There is a strong smell of petrol and the plugs are getting wet.
All the "dash" lights are operational and the earth block is good.
So, anyone out there have any ideas as it is driving me mad.
Many thanks Jon

Hi, changed the cps today and whilst it fired a cople of times still no joy. The old one had the correct gap and I spent quite a while checking and double checking the new one - Spud, thanks for your note but I did all this before seeing your response.
Anyway to clarify:
New cps
Fuel pump hoses checked - ok
Fresh petrol
New battery - constantly on Optimate
New relays - hear and feel switching
ECU connecters clean and greased with no corrosion
Any more ideas? I am an old trained car mechanic but left the shop 20 years ago so I like to think know a bit about diagnostics but this is driving me mad!
If I could put in my unqualified pennies worth in? When I had problems wiht my bike evryone else suggested the cps on countless occasions to which I was greatfull for, however after exhausting all avenues at my dealers, it turned out my ecu was duff. However, please feel free to ignore this post if it is deemed irrelevant, but I kinda know how you're feeling.
new plugs....if it tried to start then the ECU could still be OK. Plugs have been known to be ok outside the engine but fail under compression. and TBH if they are wet then they are not firing.
That said, to be honest I am still not sure what the problem was. I had what appeared to be a good spark but wet plugs. and she would not fire even when jump started via my car to ensure a high cranking speed.
Changed the cps and she would occasionally fire. So, I went the whole hog and fitted new plugs and replaced the fuel hoses on the fuel pump / filter - hey presto she started first push of the button.
Have to say I don't like not knowing the exact cause but having just been for a run she is performing very well.
