Friend of mine bought a new Daytona 955 recently and tried the Carol Nash deal. The alarm installation was crap. The fitter literally plugged it in and stuffed it down the side of the bodywork under the pillion seat. He made no effort to secure the alarm so it now bounces around with every bump.
Huh... I thought the Triumph (Datatool S4) and the Datatool S4 were identical ... anybody know for sure?
it wouldn't make sense to solder one if you already make a plug in one specifically for a model of bike.... would it?
I got told by the dealer that the Triumph one was tailored to fit my S3 exactly through a plug and the normal datatool one would need to be soldered into the wiring??
The one they fitted is the plug in one for the Triumph.
The chain (and lock) are Oxford Hardcore. Looks pretty decent. But not expensive, as you can buy them online for less than £25 and they won't stop a determined thief with an angle grinder. But then no chain will.
I think the bits are worth the price, but the fitting is the problem.
Although not part of this offer, another friend had a Carole Nash fitted Datatool Evo alarm fitted 3 years ago, it's worked well enough, never let him down and the alarm body was properly secured. But when the fitter put the microswitch (to detect seat removal) on he snapped off the metal tab/lever that presses on the microswitch button and so moved it up so that the seat base pressed directly on the button. Unfortunately he put the microswitch a little high, so, rather than move the microswitch, he filed a compensatory amount off the underside of the seat!!!
