when having a cush drive problem, is there a "snapping" noise involved? I have a 02 daytona (sssa) and it is making a hell of a snapping noise when letting the cluth out. just had bearings changed, and seemed to get worse. When I took over to show mechanic, the bike would not make the noise, like it warmed up. any information would be helpful. And if I change this out myself, is it difficult?

My S3 has developed a clicking noise upon acceleration then it stops until I use enging braking which loads up the drivetrain the opposite way. What I am trying to say is that from a standstill it will click (kinda like bad cv joints when you turn the steering wheel in a car) until the drivetrain has moved as far forward as it can. If I do not use engine braking to stop but instead clutch it and use the brakes, the noise is nearly nonexistant. However if after starting forward I use engine braking there is a clunk as the cush drive moves to the rearward part of the wheel and then once again upon taking off I will get the clicking noise.
I am assuming that the trouble is with the cush drive. 13K miles
I have an 03 (same model but DSSA) I had a cush drive warranty claim at 5K miles. There is a lot of info on here about it. just search on cush drive and you should get most of it.
I would very closely investigate a snapping noise... when mine was beat, it still never made noise that I noticed, it just caused a very harsh, abrupt transition from on throttle to off throttle.
