SpeedTrip: Maxplorer: ST, the standard does it's job & sounds quite nice. I rather spend the dosh on something useful, like panniers, than on something mainly cosmetic.
dont disagree - just finding it hard to get used to the looks of most cans in the last couple of years !
f!$%in horrid aren't they?

Took a Multi out for a test ride and sold the 08' Sprint the next day, its everything you read about it and more, 9500 miles and the only issue was the rear brake travel was a bit much. Wife likes it better then the Sprint 2 up as well. Its a Superbike that can go offroad, very fast, handles and brakes well. As far as comparing it to a 1050 Tiger forget about it. My friend has a 2010 Tiger and as great as that 1050 engine is its no 1198.

I've got my heart set on a 1200S Touring thanks Andy (this week), that's good value but is missing most of the stuff that makes it such a good bike with the exception of heated grips.
Twiggy Fuck off Bignose, United Kingdom Premier Member Posts: 19,374 Tiger Explorer 04 Apr 2012 08:05
I didn't realise there were different ones
Fretmeister Moaning about bikes, United Kingdom Premier Member Posts: 61,591 Daytona Super III 04 Apr 2012 08:08
Only a Ducati could do that! Mind you, cars have different versions.
Sir TT Church of 3 Saints, United Kingdom Premier Member Posts: 37,170 Enthusiast 04 Apr 2012 08:11
maximus vegetatorus: I didn't realise there were different ones
Yep. Standard 1200, which that is. 1200S with carbon bits and electronically adjustable Ohlins suspension. Also has TCS, ABS and 4 power delivery modes. 1200S Touring. Minus the carbon bits but with the electronic bits above, heated grips, centre stand and panniers 1200S Pikes Peak. As 1200S but with more carbon and a fancy paint job

Oh dear Nige. You're begging to sound like me with the 1200. Read everything you can find & watch every video. TBF, these bikes are a f!$%ing lot of money & not something you'd buy on a whim. It pays to make sure it's what you want.
Sir TT Church of 3 Saints, United Kingdom Premier Member Posts: 37,170 Enthusiast 04 Apr 2012 08:24
Exactamundo. I reserve the right to change my mind weekly as previously stated. Until I have the funds I will like whatever pleases me and will like the bike with the most toys until another comes along with more. Exept the Moto Guzzi Stelvio. That's f!$%ing horrid.

Twiggy Fuck off Bignose, United Kingdom Premier Member Posts: 19,374 Tiger Explorer 04 Apr 2012 08:25
I quite liked the Stelvio & it does get some good reviews. My second favourite was definitely the Yamaha tho.
Sir TT Church of 3 Saints, United Kingdom Premier Member Posts: 37,170 Enthusiast 04 Apr 2012 08:28
That is probably the ugliest bike I have ever seen I did take a little look at it though.
It lacks anything to make it stand out aside from shock looks.

That's good value but appears to have missed a service if the last was at 600 miles and the bike is nearly two years old. Why do people buy bikes like that and then not look after them as they should? That's the one weakness of owning a Ducati. They must be serviced on time by someone who knows what they are doing.
Sir TT Church of 3 Saints, United Kingdom Premier Member Posts: 37,170 Enthusiast 04 Apr 2012 08:39
The annual service yes, 7500 miles are the service intervals, don't know if Duc specify time or mileage? I like this one; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ducati-MULTIST...
And this; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ducati-MULTIST...
Twiggy Fuck off Bignose, United Kingdom Premier Member Posts: 19,374 Tiger Explorer 04 Apr 2012 08:43
Definitely red Regarding services, is the time critical still? Does oil go off?
Fretmeister Moaning about bikes, United Kingdom Premier Member Posts: 61,591 Daytona Super III 04 Apr 2012 08:47
Ducatis need servicing. It's not worth missing one. And if you thought Triumph was expensive.........................
Sir TT Church of 3 Saints, United Kingdom Premier Member Posts: 37,170 Enthusiast 04 Apr 2012 08:50
Duc specify 7500 miles or 1 year, whichever comes first. Cambelts are at 22500 or 3 years. TFFT
They aren't that bad Andy. Oil service (7500 mls) is £90. 15k service is £500(ish) cambelt service is lots I suppose the 15k service is comparable to Triumph valve service.

I'm not sure about the key-less system on it. There does seem to be one or two probs with it. What's the advantage of it?
Sir TT Church of 3 Saints, United Kingdom Premier Member Posts: 37,170 Enthusiast 04 Apr 2012 08:54
You don't need keys...

Works like a transponder. Walk up to the bike, flick the switch on the RH bar and start it. Only daft thing is that you need the key to open the fuel tank. If the key plays up you activate a hidden switch then enter a 4 digit code on the dash and it will start.
Fretmeister Moaning about bikes, United Kingdom Premier Member Posts: 61,591 Daytona Super III 04 Apr 2012 09:01
One of the mags slated the keyless doofah.
And you would look more gay than Ethel

Oh no you don't! The only thing the 1200 has that the "MTS" doesn't is cruise control and weight
