OK it's insurance renewal time for the Daytona. Have always had fully comp but since bike is now 13 yrs old and probably only worth £1500 or so I'm wondering if it's worth it. My renewal quote is £150, 8 yrs NCB. Seems a bit steep....
fully comp isnt worth it for a 1500 bike, if you happen to make a claim its going to cost you more than 1500 over the next couple of years on the increased premiums. and they wont give you 1500 back you will be lucky to get 1k back from them.
if you damage a panel and claim on it they will only write your bike off for un economical repair due to the cost a oem panel, oem stickers and labour.
you then have a total loss claim against you for 1 bit of plastic you could pick up for under £100 on fleabay.
Just finished doing the usual rigmarole of bartering my renewal. Ended up with £319. The actual cost of the policy including tax is £290. My renewal quote was £388, so they were trying to charge me £98 just to post me a new certuificate
Bluelabel had the right idea - just had a look at Hastings Direct and came in at £95, compared with £150 with my old provider Will be giving them a call shortly unless anyone has any Hastings horror stories....
Just got my insurance renewal quote through last week from Dial Direct,fc multi bike last year £107,this year £203, when I haven't made a claim! WTF! Told them to stick it and got for £100 from Bennetts. When I asked about tpo it was only £2 cheaper!
yup, traders road risk only (cheaper to split risks with specialist policys) with unlimited mods and vehicle value up to 30k. Have to have it to cover all bases, if johnny customer doesn't want to declare modifications and risk cover that's up to him but i have to have cover to ride his bike or i lose all. Just handy to have that same umbrella over my sdp use on my own bikes and cars plus full cover for missus and an extra clause for whilst she's doing nursing related stuff.
Actually when i think of it, 18 hundred is a bit of a bargain!
TPFT for me, it's not like you need to worry about windscreen cover etc like you do for a car when deciding to go TP or FC...FC for the Suzuki though...only cos it's worth a few more grand than the old trumpet.
