I've just fitted new brake pads to my 595 and changed the fluid, bled off etc etc but the braking performance is terrible. When i brake the pads make a whirring/buzzing noise as they try to bite the disc but don't do much braking! I have fitted Goldfren pads which i think might be the problem as they were quite cheap. Has anyone else experienced problems with these pads or do you think the problem lies elswhere. The pads and discs are contamination free btw. Thanks in advance

Have you bedded the pads in for about 50 miles or so? They'll have to wear-in to adjust to the minor contours of the disc before they become really good.
I swapped to EBC HH sintered pads on mine, away from the standard Triumph ones. They are much, much better and have reduced overall stopping distances for me.
My son uses Brembo sintered pads on his Ducati 600SS and although it only has one disc at the front, it stops faster than my 2006 Daytona 955i. When I next swap my front pads, I'll do some research into whether they are any better than my current EBC pads for my bike.
I don't mess with brakes, rubber or oil - buy the best, it might just save your life.....
Done that recently as well Earl. It must be the pads it's the only thing left, maybe i'll just have to get some EBC HH and see if that improves anything. I feel a bit seen off though as it wasn't that long ago i bought the Goldfren ones.
They are a bugger to bleed correctly - Are you sure you got all the air out when bleeding ..? How far the lever travels would be a good indication of air in the system. Otherwise it appears as though it would be down to the pads you have installed.
orson cart: Lots of people on the aprilia forum have said same thing about those goldfren pads being s!$%e. Change em .
There utter s!$%e, just fitted EBC HH to my Trophy they worked perfectly even before they bedded in, very impressed
Tried a set of Goldfren on a previous bike, no bite whatsoever, I'd have had better performance attacting some hard wood blocks to the original backing plates
Sintered HH on mine, and it took about 30-40 miles before they really grabbed good butwhen they meshed in to the rotors man you dont want to grab them hard, or your going to be launched for sure
I've been told by a brake expert that EBC are to be avoided and SBS brakes are very good Does any body agree with this?
Trouble is they come in lots of different guises..sintered, dual-sintered, carbon, carbon silver, ceramic...blah, blah, blah...all i want is for the bike to stop quickly when the lever is pulled in......so which ones?

Why you no risten? Quite a few people here on this thread say that EBC HH (sintered) pads work really well, and then you want to explore SBC.....
Does the brake expert you mention ride a Daytona and has that person ridden them with OEM pads and compared them to EBC HH sintered pads? Then tell that person to

Those Goldfren pads are total crap, glad I only did an experiment with them on the rear. Otherwise I'd probably be dead because there's no grip whatsoever. Back to EBC...
