Repacked the high level carbon. This involved chopping a trapdoor opening in the side. It's a heavy construction, looks like quite sturdy but can't believe they made these non rebuildable, as everyone "knows" you have to repack a can every 5k, that's what most makers say anyway I think.
There wasn't a full compliment left in there and what here was was compacted. Seems a little quieter but it's still louder than I like as the can is quite short. Covered the trapdoor by aralditing opened out fosters tins over it. Hope that holds!
Could be my imagination but seems to run a little smoother now?!
Replaced my 5 year old battery with the same Yuasa model (because I'm not one to argue with success). Regarding my avatar, and I quote...
Quote: Dom, love yer avatar, any more pics like
Damn...it is a righteous pic! Sorry to say I don't have any others like that, and though I don't know her (sigh), I have a motorcycle that looks just like hers.. Anyway I found that picture a while back when I did a google for Speed Triple pictures of my vintage (older body style 955s). I didn't actually search for babes on Triumphs, but hey, it's not my fault Google went naughty on me...
Ragged the arse of it through central London to get to Ace cafe and back. London is a cool place in the summer when the sun is out. I think I scored 8/10 for posing today.
I did the same. Got a sheet of that stuff at the market for £1. Bargain! Have some of it to protect the bodywork (£6 though, was
mug enough to buy at the bike shop) with side soft luggage and swmbo was sat on it and liked it, so there we go. Tribo seat for £1!

Rode her back home from the outlaws this morning in the pooring rain, now tucked away in her nice cosy garage, which i have still to empty of all it's crap.
Took my Daytona to Road America, Wisconsin to race Sound of Thunder with AHRMA. Toasted the bearings in the shaft to the alternator on Friday practice. No way to repair at the track. Home with bike all apart hoping to get parts to fix it to take it to Grattan Raceway, Michigan next weekend. Otherwise I'll be riding my Sport Classic Ducati, which while cool as hell, is not as fast.
Rusty Bolts: Went to Portsmouth and back. Suprisingly comfortable
And you didn't pop in for a cuppa?
Took of the front cover and found it is fitted 17/43, which is about 8% lower than the original 18/42. Might help explain the fuel un-economy. Nipped up the front steering bearings. Are they taking a longer than usual time to settle, or is that stupid nut stopping me getting proper torque on the locknut? Might make a marker pen dot to check if it's unwinding itself.
Couldn't stop for a cuppa as I had to get back to Plymouth for a meeting.
For your baggy nuts try using the flat 36mm cycle spanner to lock the lower one by undoing??? it and locking it against the upper one....if you see what I mean.
Yup, did that last time and this time. Thing is, it's not very strong and I didn't like to really lean on it. Plus what's the point in adjusting the bearings right, then undoing them by "about that much" to lock it all together? Eventually (one day) I will get a hex-head nut on there.

Dug in far enough to find that the only way to repair this is to pull the engine and split the cases. So, will an '02 Speed Triple or an '03 RS engine bolt right in with and use my Tune Boy settings? Oh, its an '00 955i.
Replaced the alternator oil seal, fitted tank. tank cowl, all front plastics, mirrors, screen, mudguard, new pads, N/S footrest, hanger and heel guard, put it back in the shed to await parts from J Lilleys.
Fitted the undertray with LED numberplate lights, tail tidy and blinkycators. Wired up the numberplate lights and puzzled as to why the wires to the blinkies are only showing 4.08 volts when the switch is used.
Put it away again.
Ho hum...
