Sir TT: Just changed the clutch, replaced the plates with Barnett ones and fitted 10% stronger springs. It took longer to clean the old gasket off than it did to change the clutch
The plates were very blue with some delicate brown tints to them!!
What a c!$%. Must have pinched the gasket. Went out to the shed tonight and noticed a lovely little oil puddle under the bike under the clutch cover
Well I got my wind screen on and am very happy with how much wind it keeps of the torso and the head. It may help me from getting that ache in my neck when I do more than an hour on the bike.Media FileMedia FileMedia File
went out shopping about 60 odd miles in total and didnt find what i wanted so came back empty handed filled up about 15 miles after light came on and got £25 worth in 25 quid in a f!$%ing bike
Pulled the cover off it and stood looking at it for a while, trying to decide whether I can be arsed pulling all the front end and yokes out and pulling the caliipers off and stripping those, or whether to just leave it as it is, or just put all the standard bits back on and sell it.
Startde rebuilding it this evening. To my surprise the tank hadn't grown after being off the bike some time and fitted with no effort whatsoever. An hour of spannering tomorrow and it will be back on the road
Went for a ride and looked at the mileage. Noticed that I would be needing fuel so by the time I got to the station I noticed that I had 125 miles on this tank and the fuel light never did come on. I hope that I didn't mess anything up when I tried to remove the tank the other day.
Got a fresh MOT on it today, though it was touch and go at a couple of points (reg plate not showing a BS No. or reflector), though the shop got one made up for me.
Advisory on "play" on front discs, so pricing up some new discs, and start saving some pennies for them!

If you're riding at a constant speed you can get up to 130miles before the light comes on
i managed 160 out of my t595,but that was when i picked it up and rode home being a good boy and staying with the misses who was driving the bits home in the punto.new bike to me aswell so very gentle till i had looked at it properly.normal riding i dont normally get more than about 100 but recently i have been making a concious effort to ride like an old woman due to cost of fuel so getting 120 -130 now
Cos for some daft reason, the voices in my head were telling me "it'll be ok, there's still some tread, not a lot..." besides I kinda figured that all I needed was a new tyre so if he passed it as it was then I could wait till I had more cash to replace both, only now I had to replace just the rear
no harm in trying phill i did the same last year, except i knew they were both getting close and actually measured them.only problem was i measured nr the middle and thought it would do,my tester took one look and said thats a fail.i made him get his guage out and they were worn too far in from the edge(central 3/4 need 1mm) so let him do the rest and came back next day with the other set of wheels on for free retest.he should be well impressed when i go in with these new ones this time which havent seen any track use
I guess there aren't as strick rules on where the tread has to be
Quote: didnt some manufacturer bring a tyre out a couple of years ago that technicaly would fail an mot because the tread pattern wasnt 3/4the tyre width ?
Or across the full width of the tread pattern, if that covers less than 3/4 of the width of the tyre.

As I understand it the tread doesn't need to cover 3/4 of the tyres width - the rule is that a tyre must have minimum 1mm tread across 3/4 of its width (equidistant either side of centre line), unless the tread pattern covers less than 3/4 of the tyre's width, in which case it must have mininum 1mm depth to all its tread.
I don't actually know what the law says re what portion of a tyre must be treaded, or any stipulations re land / sea ratio.
