Phill:
How often should the iacv hoses get changed?

Don't change them for the same OEM units..that'll just go brittle and leak again over an extended time and cause you to chase all sorts of geese trying to track down the problem.

Silicone hose (6mm), sealant and heatshrink tubing.. replace the rubbery ends.

Red hose = faster.

Phil,
I've just swapped the orginal set out, after 8 years. I guess it depends on when your bike starts showing symptoms of them failing.

My bike started playing up two years but I could'nt figure out why - stalling when slowing down / chagning down at low revs.It also sounded slightly uneven on tick over

I had a dealer look for the problem (which they could'nt find) down load the latest program and balance the injectors, problem seemed to go away. When it started to play up again last spring, I had Bulldog's service the bike and the problem seemed to go away again. It was'nt until I read a thread on here that I put two & two together:thumbup:

Ordered them to put fully synthetic oil instead of the semi the were planning to.

30

Just check my handbook and it say fully or semi-synth as long as it meets the standard

Do you reckon I was over zealous? 39

duke63:
Semi synth is fine especially on a new engine.

Fully synth can be a bit of overkill in some cases.

As Fidel Castro once said, "Condemn me,it doesn't matter, History will acquit me".
The bike seems to run OK.

Rode my 1050 to the first Plymouth bike night of 2011. Took my 13yr old daughter with me and she had her picture taken by the local paper sat on my bike. Nice to see Triumphs there both old and new. A well attended night in aid of Help the Heros.

After being abroad for quite a few days, obviously not riding her, I went to fire her up, then was too tempted so started riding her around the basement (no helmet, or any other protective stuff :pirate:) as all the cars littering it were gone after 5 PM: Felt like a 3 year old with his new kiddy-bike.
