Hung it from the garage roof and drifted out the head races

Have they done everything you asked?
Chococat Hurt, sad, angry, again, United Kingdom Premier Member Posts: 32,671 Street Triple R 09 Feb 2011 21:18
Seem to have, I'll need to inspect it properly in daylight. Not particularly happy it's gained 1.1 miles though, I should've specified it wasn't to be taken out at all, I didn't want it doing even 1 mile on salted roads, but I didn't think they'd test ride it just 'cos they'd fitted a brake reservoir.
Nice n Fat Wiltshire, United Kingdom Premier Member Bonneville (01-08) 09 Feb 2011 21:23
Probably bounced it off the limiter on the way to do the chip shop run
Chococat Hurt, sad, angry, again, United Kingdom Premier Member Posts: 32,671 Street Triple R 09 Feb 2011 21:28
Probably. If i'd thought they'd take it out I'd have speciically said not to.

If he gets too clever I'll send a picture to his phone, TQ, that'll teach him, lol...
And why have Triumph discontinued the rear bodywork finishers? Bloody fat plasterers, what do they know about building bikes anyway? Grrr.

I must admit that most of them were very funny I found the one were you had dressed up as a native of Bradford and the other were you had spent the whole day carving the word c!$% in big letters out of a block of polystyrene very amusing
Chococat Hurt, sad, angry, again, United Kingdom Premier Member Posts: 32,671 Street Triple R 09 Feb 2011 22:42
The c!$% polystyrene was great, only took a few minutes though. I was quite impressed yo had it as your wallpaper Media File

Rode my new beastie to Capn Jaspers for a mug of coffee when a guy looked at my bike and asked if it was mine. I said yeah and he said that was cool as he was the previous owner and had had it from new. He then told me of every single thing that had been done to it and recalls etc. Has really given me peace of mind now as he loved the bike and is on his 5th Triumph. Good ride home too although the rain started coming down. Finally, Dave Death Motorcycle came all the way from Isle of White to take back the blue 1050 and gave me a nice official Triumph/Dave Death Anniversary T shirt with their name and a Union Jack on the back. They thanked me for not kicking off wth all the trouble Ive had. All in all, a good day

Swapped the silver handlebars for some black ones.

Yeah, I hate the silver ones on mine too.
Saxman Cowplain, United Kingdom Posts: 7,160 Tiger 800 12 Feb 2011 21:22
I got a pair of fat black triumph ones off ebay for £25.00.
Chococat Hurt, sad, angry, again, United Kingdom Premier Member Posts: 32,671 Street Triple R 12 Feb 2011 21:35
I've looked at the black Triumph Speed Triple ones, but don't like them, too much pull back. The black optional Neken bars for the new shape 1050 look ideal, but they're £84, and i can get black Rizomas for a lot less than that. It's a moot point now anyway.

Went out for a great ride and service the chain.
All so noticed that the sheath covering the wires under the where the handle bar bolts down was cut or cracked. Put some electrical tape over that area and readjusted the wire harness with some wire ties.

Nice n Fat Wiltshire, United Kingdom Premier Member Bonneville (01-08) 14 Feb 2011 18:06
Out of interest Peppe which dealer are you getting it from?
Chococat Hurt, sad, angry, again, United Kingdom Premier Member Posts: 32,671 Street Triple R 14 Feb 2011 18:10
And do Triumph know he's selling imports, lol?...
Peppe Oxfordshire, United Kingdom Posts: 244 Speed Triple 1050 14 Feb 2011 18:22
The import question: how do you know it is in import? anyway, what you see is a pic from the net that shows what my bike would look like accessories included, my bike has been made in Hinckly... or in the worst case scenario maybe in Thailand by a 9 year old... aren't they outsourcing production over there? The dealer question: it's Hughuenden M40, I know, I know, and I do agree, but it's the closest to my house and it would have cost me the same anywhere else.
Chococat Hurt, sad, angry, again, United Kingdom Premier Member Posts: 32,671 Street Triple R 14 Feb 2011 18:37
The side reflectors give it away.

Maybe he's heard about that time you drove an 18 wheeler through the shop, then killed all the staff and blew the building up?... I heard it from a man in the pub, so it must be true.

Mr Brightside: The side reflectors give it away.
